VinUniversity and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) have united their visions to create significant global influence.
On May 8, 2026, VinUniversity welcomed senior APRU representatives for a series of strategic meetings aimed at strengthening institutional alignment and fostering cooperative initiatives. Following its recent inclusion in APRU, the visit provided a vital forum for both parties to exchange ideas and chart collaborative courses.

Shared Ambitions: Building Vietnam’s Flagship Academic Hub
During these sessions, VinUniversity articulated its aspiration to evolve into Vietnam’s premier academic institution by leveraging APRU’s extensive network as a neutral platform for knowledge exchange and partnership development.

"We are thrilled to be part of APRU," said Professor Thomas Schneider, APRU Chief Executive. "VinUniversity brings fresh energy and perspectives that perfectly complement our collective mission."
Discussions highlighted VinUniversity’s commitment to contribute practical Vietnamese insights—spanning smart cities, green energy, digital health, and AI—to regional academic discourse, aiming to transform local challenges into globally relevant research outcomes.
Both parties explored future collaborations across APRU initiatives such as Sustainable Cities, Global Health, and Indigenous Knowledge, with APRU inviting VinUniversity to join the Asia-Pacific Women in Leadership program in recognition of its leadership in gender diversity.
Academic Synergy: Accelerating Innovation Together
Academics and research teams emphasized the importance of active engagement to maximize VinUniversity’s membership benefits. Faculty members expressed readiness to collaborate in key domains including Global Health, Arts & Sciences, Green Transformation, and Sustainability.

APRU leaders praised VinUniversity’s nimble, innovative approach—comparable to a speedboat—enabling swift decisions and pioneering contributions within the association.
Beyond participation, VinUniversity was invited to spearhead new thematic conferences and shape future agendas, reflecting trust in its dynamic capabilities.
Distinct Contributions: Bridging Theory and Practice
VinUniversity’s model integrates seamlessly with APRU thanks to its strategic location within the Vingroup ecosystem. This connection ensures research remains industry-ready and market-aligned, while also driving nationwide transformation through real-world projects like the Smart Green Transformation Center (GREEN-X), which translates academic findings into actionable public policy.
Even after just two months, VinUniversity has become a proactive leader within APRU, contributing to high-level events such as the APEC University Leaders Forum and Annual Presidents’ Meeting. Faculty members serve as facilitators for APRU certificate programs on aging and climate change, and student exchanges broaden Vietnamese academic horizons worldwide.
The visit concluded with a forward-looking plan: harness APRU’s reach to amplify VinUniversity’s research impact and showcase Vietnamese innovation throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
